- Mark Randall Added 2017-08-23★ ★ ★ ★ ★Wellers Bay National Wildlife Area has been an area on Wellers Bay that as a young boy I and friends spent hours on the Lake Ontario side of the island that was all sandy beach. From the early 1970's to 1982, I spent a month or so staying at our family cottage on Wellers Bay and spent hours fishing morning day and evening. Once I was 10, I was allowed to take our little boat a 14' aluminum deep V powered by a Johnson 15-HP outboard. I went through a 7-ga tank of fuel every 2-3 days ! Great great memories on Wellers Bay & the Island which features, Wellers Bay National Wildlife Area..
